Your Questions, Answered
We want you to feel comfortable and informed before you ever walk through our door. Here you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions about your care, appointments, insurance, and what to expect at Brightwell.
-
No. You can schedule an appointment with Brightwell Dental Hygiene directly. A referral is not required for routine dental hygiene services. If your care requires evaluation or treatment by a dentist or another healthcare provider, we’ll discuss that with you and help you understand the appropriate next steps.
-
Your first visit begins with a conversation. We’ll review your health and dental history, discuss any concerns or goals you have, and evaluate your individual oral health needs.
Your visit may include a periodontal evaluation, oral cancer screening, and other appropriate services. Most importantly, you’ll have plenty of time to ask questions and understand the recommendations for your care.
-
Yes. Brightwell Dental Hygiene accepts dental insurance and participates in-network with select insurance plans. Because benefits and coverage vary, we recommend contacting your insurance provider before your appointment to confirm whether Brightwell is in-network with your specific plan.
-
You may still be able to use your dental benefits even if Brightwell is not in-network with your plan. However, your insurance company may reimburse services at a different rate or may not provide coverage.
Insurance benefits are estimates and are not a guarantee of payment. You are responsible for any charges not covered or paid by your insurance plan.
-
There isn’t one schedule that is right for everyone. The frequency of your dental hygiene visits depends on your oral health, periodontal condition, home-care routine, medical history, and individual risk factors.
Some patients may do well with routine preventive visits, while others benefit from more frequent periodontal maintenance. We’ll recommend a schedule based on your individual needs.
-
That’s okay—you’re always welcome at Brightwell. Whether it’s been six months or several years, you’ll be met with thoughtful, respectful care—never judgment. We’ll start by assessing your current oral health, talk through any concerns you may have, and create a plan that feels comfortable and appropriate for you. The important thing is that you’re here, and we’ll move forward together from where you are today.
-
Yes. Brightwell provides periodontal therapy and ongoing periodontal maintenance for patients with gum disease.
Your periodontal health will be evaluated so we can recommend care appropriate for your needs. If your condition requires treatment beyond the services Brightwell provides, we’ll discuss that with you and recommend appropriate follow-up care.
-
Yes. Brightwell offers professional tooth whitening for patients who would like a brighter smile. We’ll talk with you about your goals and help determine whether whitening is appropriate for you and which option best suits your needs.
Because restorations such as crowns, veneers, and tooth-colored fillings do not whiten like natural teeth, we’ll also discuss anything that could affect your results before you begin.

Salivary testing uses a simple saliva sample to provide additional information about your oral health. Depending on the type of testing performed, it can help identify bacteria and other factors associated with tooth decay, gum disease, and oral health risk.
